Pre-Tech for DE and Time Trial Driving Events

Each car must pass a technical inspection prior to entering the track. Some regions will do this at the track. Others will require you to pre-tech at a shop, before arriving at the track. Some will offer both options. (A final safety check at the track will also be required.) You must have your car teched within 30-120 days before the current event. The exact timeframe will vary from region to region according to their rules. Also, your car will require a new tech inspection if it was involved in an accident or underwent any major changes since the last inspection. One of worst things that can happen when you are hundreds of miles away from home at a driving event is a mechanical failure. Even worse is an avoidable failure. This is why we highly encourage all drivers to have their cars inspected at a shop prior to all away events.

If pre-tech is required or an option, you should ask your regular mechanic if they will do it for you, or contact the event chair for suggestions. The event's hosting region's website may also list suitable shops.
